The Start of Something New
Any person who has ever picked up a Nintendo Controller can recognize by the 10th 8-bit note the theme song for Super Mario Bros. The staple of Video Game Music is ingrained on a more personal level. It isn't just about the little blurps and beeps that dance on the background of our entertainment but more about opening up the visuals under a whole new medium. Listening to soundtracks for movies has the same effect on us. We are stirred by something else prancing in our heads as we hear the docile tones of Danny Elfman and the epic scores of John Williams. Should it be any wonder that both of these composers has scored a Video Game Soundtrack as well, an entertainment that isn't just visual but also experienced. Video Game Music can be repetitive but often times its used to create, inspire, and simply to love. I have listened to only a few soundtracks in my time and each one leaves me with at least one or two songs that really capture something in me. Over the next few years, possibly even century, I hope to take you through the A-Z of Video Game Music Soundtracks. I understand that here and there I won't get the complete alphabetized order of these soundtracks, and if there are any I miss please let me know, but for the sake of argument this list is a start at letting us know whats good, and whats bad in the Video Game Music world. What simply should stay in the cartridge, and what should be blasted on the speakers of good standing nerds everywhere. Let "The Theme of Love" flow from the mighty Mississippi, and let the Prologue's of countless Video Games ring in our ears. This is the Video Game Music Review Blog.
